Watermelon Lemonade

What a treat watermelon lemonade is. It is so refreshing and light. I stumbled upon this mixture a few years ago. As I walked through the farmers market I spotted this perfect organic watermelon. One day I bought a big one. As I got home and cut it up, I realized I had way more watermelon than I knew what to do with. Searching for ways to consume it, I decided to juice it. So I took my cut up pieces and made a big pitcher of watermelon juice. A few days later as I was drinking it hit me that lemon might pair really nicely with this. For me that is how it started and since that day everybody has enjoyed this beverage. Sometimes I also add some lime juice with the lemon but only if you want to add another hint of citrus. Overall this drink is a winner with kids and adults in the summer months. Make sure to get your watermelon when its in season and if it has seeds even better. Best way to enjoy this is in a nice tall glass and chilled.

Watermelon is packed with nutrients and water. Drinking watermelon juice may have many health benefits, including lower blood pressure, improved insulin sensitivity and reduced muscle soreness.

Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 Watermelon
  • 10 Lemons
  • 5 limes (Optional)
  • Pure Maple syrup (Optional to taste)

Instructions

  1. Cut Watermelon into small pieces
  2. Cut Lemons in half (Limes* Optional)
  3. Juice Watermelon in a extracting Juicer or blend in a blender
  4. Juice Lemons in a citrus juicer
  5. Combine in a pitcher
  6. Add maple syrup to taste
